Layers: Description: This dataset records the lcoations of Community Anchor Institution (CAI) locations in New Hampshire. CAI data were created to support the NH Broadband Mapping Initiative. For the purposes of the NHBMI, CAIs include public and private schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, Veterans Administration medical facilities, urgent care clinics, fire and rescue facilities, police stations, and libraries. The dataset was created by NH GRANIT based on data from the Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD) database. (https://gii.dhs.gov/HIFLD) Point locations and attribute information were updated in many instances. Notes on HIFLD source data:Public Schools feature dataset is composed of Public elementary and secondary education facilities as defined by the Common Core of Data (CCD, https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/ ), National Center for Education Statistics (NCES, https://nces.ed.gov ), US Department of Education for the 2019-2020 school year. This includes all Kindergarten through 12th grade schools as tracked by the Common Core of Data. Hospital facilities were located by HSIP based on data acquired from various state departments or federal sources which has been referenced in the SOURCE field. The database does not contain nursing homes or health centers. Fire stations were mapped by USGS. The data includes manned fire stations and buildings from which a fire response occurs, such as a volunteer fire department building to which fire fighters report for duty, but which is not continuously manned. Police station locations were identified by HIFLD as follows: "Law Enforcement agencies 'are publicly funded and employ at least one full-time or part-time sworn officer with general arrest powers'". The primary sources for this effort are the DOJ-BJS CSLLEA from 2008 and the 2009 feature class from Homeland Security Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD). Library locations were primarily determined using the CAI data produced by NHGRANIT in 2018. Library location data from HIFLD, published 20230301, was used to review and update the original CAI points.Urgent Care ClinicsVA Medical FacilitiesPublic Health DepartmentsFor more information about the NH Broadband Mapping Initiative, visit https://nhbroadbandmapping.unh.edu/
